O holy Child of Bethlehem, descend to us, we pray; cast out our sin and enter in, be born in us today.
Be born in us today. I LOVE those lyrics from 'O Little Town of Bethlehem'. That really is such an incredible truth, isn't it. That Jesus, the Son of God, not only was born here on earth, but that he can be born in us!
The Bible talks about Jesus standing at the door and knocking... and saying, "behold, if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him... and eat with him... and him with me"!
He will come in.
In to us.
In to me.
In to you.
Jesus in us is one of those airy-fairy confusing ideas, isn't it. But it's true. He literally lives in us when we allow him in and is with us forever!
I don't want to only let him into a small part of my life though. I want to let him in to all of my life! I want to allow him access to EVERY part of me.
That's why my prayer this Christmas is this... be born in me! Be born in every part of me. Not just a small part but every part. Be born in all of me.
Lord I completely surrender to you. I give myself entirely to you, holding nothing back.
Show me the things in my life that are not of you. Show me where I can change to allow more of you to be born in me, and do any work in my heart that needs to be done!
Recently I came across this song sung by Francesca Battistelli - 'Be Born in Me'. It's written from Mary(Jesus's mother)'s perspective. It's such an incredible song with amazing truth in it.
Be born in me.
May that be your prayer this Christmas!
And may it be an amazingly wonderfully merry one. <3
