God's Redemptive Love

I haven't shared any of my poems for aaaaages (because I haven't written any shareable ones for ages :P). So I thought maybe you'd like to read this one that I wrote at the beginning of October.

We all stumble and struggle in so many ways
Our hearts are poorly and sickly and weak.
Inside of our turmoil, grief and despair
We quail as our God starts to speak.

We worry he’ll tell us of all of our sin
And show us how we don’t deserve
To be given his love. His unconditional love
We think, surely his grace is reserved!

His mercy’s for those who don’t sin like I do.
He surely cannot just look past
This gargantuan weakness that’s tearing me down
My sin is just like the oceans, it’s vast!

And then we stop and we look up at Him
As he bends down to whisper our name
We’re suddenly quiet and look out of ourselves
Our souls are refreshed in His beautiful rain

And he says to us, “Child, yes, your sin is so great
But I sent down my son to remove
The price you needed to pay. Now there’s nothing but grace
And nothing left of which I disapprove.”

He shows us the Cross, up on Calvary’s hill
And the nail scars in Jesus’s hands
We stand there in awe and imagine the pain
And the wonder of God’s holy plan.

So we walk in the Light. On the narrowest way
And we surrender to the mercy of One
Who gave of himself so that we might be free
And, too, become one of God’s Sons.

May you be blessed today.

  2. Hi Bonnie,
    Great poem Bonnie!
Just wondering, would you mind if I reblogged this poem on my blog and say you wrote it and link back to your blog? If you say no I will respect that and not post it.

  5. How often do you write poems?

Also, your poems are getting better as you go along, I think.

    1. Not very often, anymore. I kind of need sufficient inspiration.

      Thanks! :) That's kind.
