My favourite......

Bible verses! My favourite Bible verses. I personally like using the KJV version as it expresses itself so delightfully (I own a very old-fashioned KJV New Testament) although I own a 3 year-old NIV Bible also which I use more often. The following Scripture quotations come from my KJV New Testament so if you don't like Old English I am sorry!

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, and thinketh no evil; rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in truth; beareth all things, believeth all things; endureth all things.
-1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
-James 4:8-10

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
-1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

For now we see through a glass, darkly, but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
-1 Corinthians 13:12

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
-1 Timothy 6:11-13

Put on the full armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
-Ephesians 6:11-12

I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
-John 10:9-11

Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me: for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
-Matthew 11:28-30

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away.
-Revelation 21:4

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teach them to obey everything whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.
-Matthew 28:19-20

I enjoy Old English. Especially the Lord's Prayer in Old English.
