An excellent author

I thought I would begin this post with some interesting information about one of my favourite authors, Frank Peretti.

He was born in Canada in 1951 and wrote his first children's book in 1985, The Door in the Dragon's Throat. His first novel (This Present Darkness) was published in 1986 and the sequel, Piercing the Darkness, was published in 1989.

The novels he wrote that I've read and recommend are....

This Present Darkness
Piercing the Darkness

The Prophet

The Oath

The Visitation

The Cooper Kid's Adventure Series. Now, this series is aimed at 8-10 year olds, but my opinion is that they would be scared out of their socks!!! I read them now (14 years old) and get scared. They are highly exciting and very scary.

Titles in that series are....

The Door in the Dragon's Throat
Escape from the Islands of Aquarius
The Tombs of Anak (probably the scariest of all of them)
Trapped at the Bottom of the Sea
The Deadly Curse of Toco-Rey
The Secret of the Desert Stone (maybe the least scary? Possibly read it first.)
The Legend of Annie Murphy
Mayday at Two Thousand Five Hundred - formerly known as Flying Blind

All of his books are highly exciting. I love them!!! I especially recommend the novels This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness. I think that most (if not all) of his books are Christian based as well. Definitely the  Adventure series is, and the novels I've read (and listed above) as well.

So there we go. I thought you might find that interesting. He is a great author!!!!!!!!!!!!! To find out a little more about him, his books etc, you can go onto his Wiki page here.

May the Lord bless and guide you in all that you do!!!

  1. Our church has The Door in the Dragon's Throat and This Present Darkness in its library, and I've read them both.

I'd like to read more of them. Even if they are scary. *shudders*

  2. Well, they're probably not scary for you. I know the sort of books you read... some are even scarier than Frank Peretti's!
You could borrow them off us if you really want to.
